Like a rose trampled on the ground..

One morning, Dot got off the bed, rubbed her sleepy eyes and walked towards me in the living room.

“Mommy, I want to watch Sound of Music.”

“Cannot watch TV in the morning. You want me to read you a book.”

Shaking her head, she replied, “No. I want to paint.”

Painting in the morning is not a usual activity that we do but we did that morning.

As usual, she loves to paint with her hands and feet. With paint on her hands and feet, she did hand painting, walked on the drawing paper and on the floor. My clean floor was again colored by her tiny feet.

After she finished her artwork, she asked me to carry her onto the stool to wash her hands. Then she had her water play on her bathtub. I let her play while I cleaned up the mess on the floor.

As the colour palette still left some paint, I took the brush and drew on Dot’s artwork. The final artwork was a pleasant surprise.

As I looked at this work of ours, this beautiful song “Above All” by Lenny LeBlanc came to my mind. I am once again reminded of God’s great love and sacrifice for us. Grateful.

… a Rose trampled on the ground

You took the fall and thought of me

Above all.
